The Friday unwind 014: The delicious centre of yes
Meeting up with a Substack writer <3 & a second newsletter
Fridays are for unwinding. Inward journeys, outward wanderings, departing flights to nowhere but good memories — all are welcome here. Take all the space you need. In this series, unwind and unravel with me into a daydream, into a place that feels like a Friday spent elsewhere.
I’ve noticed what I keep noticing, all over the world, several times in the same voice that is always mine even if foreign in cadence: the deliciousness of the gut-born yes. It is gut-born. I know this because I have stayed up forgetting to feed myself, nourished creatively, working towards something that can only exist if I allow it, satiated by the end of it. This is what I feel creativity is: feeding others from your most vital resources that are moving and nestled between the organs you use most. I see it as something you produce from gut more than from memory. It is not the hunger we think it to be, but a disposition for being emptied for what we believe is worthy of being.
I’m writing first about creativity but everything is creativity and so I’m writing about life. The feminine urge to give life to things, cyclically. The masculine urge to look the unignorable in the eye, provide for it. When I think of the times that I have allowed my centre of deliciousness to take me by the hand, I have experienced life as I like it. I have responded mmmm and it is a language of deep agreement with strangers, lovers, cooks, poets. I am very sacral-centred, it seems. I understand that the emotions that the sacrum homes are internal information that I am gifted with, secretly or outwardly. The energy of listening to the body first is a guiding principle in my life and I hope to rarely resist it.
& if I choose not to respond, this time, I know it will return in a cycle of pleasure which always wants to exit the body.
I am a 4/6 Sacral Generator, according to Human Design. I discovered this some months ago and I’m grateful. From what I’ve learned, this means that as a Generator, I have a great capacity for creation and will often feel a need to create until I’m done. Generators do the work and bring ideas to keep the worlds they operate in going. The sacral element refers to the source from which I make my decisions; the root I must look to. The pronounced sacral element means that I honour my authority, my excitement, my intuitive response which speaks faster than my mouth can.1 The 4/6 profile yearns to be in community, to offer it, to be privy to the old wisdoms of an open heart while being visionary. It is known as The Regal Authoritative Figure or the Optimist. Human Design also outlines primary gifts. My primary gift? Altruism, says the author of the Life Is In Love With Me newsletter. Human Design has been an interesting lens to view myself as I embrace my life as an artist, once more, always.
Some weeks ago,
visited me here in Belize. She was passing through this country tucked underneath Mexico’s Caribbean and beside Guatemala’s wild and asked if I’d be around. It was a pleasure to meet her and her mum in one of my favourite ocean-side restaurants, suggesting the escabeche (a Belizean classic), and spending time admiring the fullness of their itinerary and the kindness they had already received 4 days in. We spoke about lots of things besides the sounds and sight of the bay, still brown by the way. Nathalie and I have quite a few things in common, a love for the Caribbean diaspora, a love for travel, city upbringing. We also both share the 4/6 profile.Naturally, we’ve both relocated, travelled far from home, and centred community in some way in the midst of this - but only when it is in alignment. Nathalie is a dancer and poles (beautifully) and so becoming a part of these communities while travelling is important to her. We inevitably begin discussing what it actually means to be in community and Nathalie said a word that resonated gut-deep. We gather as mindful creators who honour our pace, capacity and visions. Yes. I decided to mention my second newsletter The Easeful Place which I had quietly relaunched. She tells me she had already signed up. (ugh! I felt it in my gut again. Such a kind soul).
I hadn’t shared it widely yet because I was nurturing it, long into the morning sometimes, but the conversation reminded me that it was not only time to be seen but time to be found in deeper community.
Nathalie, and many others since, have kindly encouraged me in more ways than words and so here I am. I’d like to invite you to The Easeful Place, a newsletter and resource for mindful creativity. Come in, take your shoes off, get comfy.
The Easeful Place is a newsletter and resource that joins mindfulness with creativity. It is a space for learning to live a life of your choosing and connecting with an international community of artists. I created The Easeful Place to connect light-minded beings and offer encouragement through weekly newsletters, writing prompts, workshops, global opportunities, interviews with artists and wellness creators from around the world for those who wish to centre wellness in their lives and practice. It is for:
✺ Writers & artists of all kinds
✺ Journalers
✺ Deep breathers
✺ Those good with intimacy (self and others)
✺ Those who choose to show up mindfully
The Easeful Place is, more than anything, a community. I’ve witnessed in the feedback how much desire there is to be connected with others who value shared space and who make room for the platforms and voices of others. The last few months of sending letters out from The Easeful Place have been about defining how I can be of service to those who love art, globalist lifestyles, and writing/journaling. So far I’ve shared paid writing and content creator opportunities and artist residencies around the world. The first artist interview went out this week and was met with lots of excitement and curiosity for how other artists are making their lives work.2
I have plenty planned for The Easeful Place but right now, it is most important that you know that I would lose sleep, skip meals and interrupt normality with pleasure for this digital resting place. I care that deeply that it exists. Welcome.
It’s free to join and become an open-hearted & minded member of the community. You can find out more below and sense the energy for yourself.
You can find out more and receive access to a list of writing prompts 🌀here🌀. I hope they nourish and support you deeply.

Nathalie’s Substack is named Creating Spirals. I’ve seen first-hand that there is a lot of cross-over between our beliefs and living and so I’m sure you’ll deeply enjoy her work.
is another incredible writer who has fuelled my love of creating intentionally since we were uni students walking each other home after Caribbean Poetry class, now catching flights across the world to stay in each other’s homes while visiting the countries we’ve settled into. Check out her gorgeous latest piece.A song for your Friday unwind::

Thank you, so much, for being here. Many thanks to my most recent paid subscribers, your support means so much. I’m very grateful. These love letters and travel memories remain free, always. This is an attempt to keep this space as an offering and resource for all. For a while, I’ve reduced annual paid subscriptions to $48.88 (from $88). I am preparing to show up with my paid readers in a new way and in the meantime, I’d love to grow and increase the paid support for this space. Paid readers receive 111 daily affirmations and a travel backstory upon subscription.

I highly recommend watching Muralist and multi-passionate artist Lauren’s YouTube video who is also a 4/6 Sacral Generator and put some beautiful language to this.
It was Asli! Founder of Malmal and Change Rhythm, beekeeper, natural skin and hair care enthusiast, mother, homesteader and nomad, soulfully creating from her home in Belize.
I've never heard of Human Design, but I definitely plan to Google it.
Ahhh Amara!!! I love the serendipity of our journey with Human Design helping us hone in on our creative power. My favorite thing is connecting with other creatives especially when we can resonate so much on the joy we have in building community and creating safe spaces for people to explore their own creative power. So happy The Easeful Place is officially out in the world and that we got to connect in beautiful Belize!!
Also I'm 4/1 Manifestor Splenic authority hehe. If you haven't looked into the part of your chart that talks about the environment you thrive in I recommend. Mine is shores so being by the water is my jam 🌊
