How is your heart space this weekend? I’m dropping in to share some news that feels perfectly suited for a Sunday. I will be taking an end-of-summer hiatus and in my absence, I have some scheduled posts lined up. I’m very excited for you to receive them. They’re words offered by three incredible women and writers who have deeply contributed to my joy and growth here.
A digital detox is part of the law of being for me. I am often offline, also often distracted by possibility and what I can turn that into, I enjoy being rested and believe I can show up better for it. Also, if nothing else I am but a European (socialised to be at least) at the end of the day and August was created for being away. Away from home city and away from work. I cannot wait to return but first, I cannot wait to spend the end of summer in the last of the summer sunlight, as it was designed to be - indulgent and restful.
I’m not the type to drag surprises out so the next essay will arrive in your inbox tomorrow, probably in the early morning. To me, surprises are urgent, made so so that excitement has somewhere to go and live; there’s no long-lasting purgatory for excitable things. And excitement is something I like to keep alive when I can. Excitement in the silence of having no obligation and excitement in the rush of things being birthed in/from you, it arrives both ways and I hope you know what I mean when I say I’m happy to wait for it. I think writers are better when we’re excited. Even when that is not an easy-to-reach source of inspiration, I think time and distance and the words of others can be our very best friends.
I will be logged out of Substack but I encourage you to comment and interact with the writers in the coming posts. They’re the type of people I trust to speak kindly and fully so please please feel free to speak and commune.
Happy end of summer. I’ll gather with you soon God willing.
wishing you a indulgent and restful end of summer hiatus, indeed ❤️❤️
