Life Is In Love With Me

Welcome to the ‘Life Is In Love With Me’ newsletter, a landing place for memories and love stories.

Amara wearing a colourful headscarf caught mid-spin in front of a red wall in Lisbon. She is wearing a white maxi skirt and a black top and holding a red and purple bouquet with eucalyptus stems too. She is wearing all of her favourite gold earrings and crystal necklaces.

I am Amara, a poet, essayist, wellness writer, author, nomad, and life lover. I’m so glad you’ve arrived here.

‘Life Is In Love With Me’ began as an affirmation that I would offer to myself before stepping out of the house each day. I declare it to let myself and my environment know how I will be received. Since living in this way, (welcoming love, completely and audaciously) my life has been filled with the most interesting and heart-opening experiences. Simply, I travel first to reconnect with ease (a forgotten birthright), and I continue travelling to arrive at the destinations that most inspire me as an act of radical love unto myself and my bloodlines. As a nomad who is often in transit and always at the mercy of Love, this thing that I must do (life, letter-writing, global home-making, rerooting while grounding) has been made better by going where love lives. My capacity for it is ever-expanding, each one-way ticket at a time, and my wandering is an example of how loving our world can be.

Então, this newsletter and community is a living, online resource for learning to be at home in love. The LIILWM community is a safe space to fall back in love with life (asé) and reclaim the ease that should greet us each fresh morning.

Love

Love is what I ask for and so it shows up, regularly and free of shame. Take some time to dwell on the praise and pure love for ‘Life Is In Love With Me’ from subscribers:

Ayanna Nicole, author of ‘soul remedies’ commented on this post:

“Congrats on continued growth, Amara ♥️ Happy that others are discovering your incredible voice.

I loved this deeply—you are such an inspiration to all of us who are wishing to take that bold step and leave the place we were born. I love what you say about the leaving and staying; how even when it is intuition guiding you there’s still that sadness that comes with leaving those you love, but also how brave it is to be the one to light the path for others to follow, like it has been done throughout history.

“Someone had to leave first so others felt emboldened to do so too.” Yes!!

This year, I have been feeling the call to the nomadic lifestyle, and I know I’ll feel similarly to you when I finally get on the plane to an unknown destination. But to do so anyway, despite, because it is the calling of your soul… such admirable audacity!

Thank you for your wisdom, and as I’ve said before, for continuously inspiring us to leap.”

A paid subscriber and one of my best friends that travel has gifted me, sent this sweetness via WhatsApp:

Why become a paid subscriber?

Becoming a paid subscriber supports my work and vision. It doesn’t necessarily lend to any definitions of the worth or value of my writing. Instead, it aligns with my framework of ideas about generosity repaying generosity. I choose not to paywall my pieces because I would love for these discussions to remain accessible to all. I believe in loving exchange, I believe in being radically rested and never burnt out, and I believe writers’ offerings are always enough. I base this newsletter on these principles and hope this can inspire ease as well as your thoughts around paying for writing. For that reason, your decision to become a paid subscriber is truly a love offering and I receive it, gratefully, as such.

As a thank you, paid subscribers will receive a gift of 111 daily affirmations on love upon subscription, a secret in the form of a backstory, and my gratitude for supporting independent writing and this labour (of love). If you are not able to support me with a paid subscription or donation I still deeply appreciate you being here and engaging in this newsletter each week.

Where I have travelled (and where I will take you)

The stories you receive in your inbox are coming at you from all over this world. Beginning my nomadic journey in Mexico, I have gathered stories from several parts and will add to them as I feel called. So far, I have been blessed to have journeyed through several states in Mexico (Oaxaca, Chiapas, DF, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Veracruz), Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Cuba, Jamaica, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Brussels, Hungary, France, Northern Ireland and London, where I was born.

Expect life lessons, observations, conversations, letters, guides, the unmistakable miracles of solo traveling, and joyful, joyful travel tales from all of these places.
